Then you can stroll through this modern cowboy town
and be charmed by the western flair. |

the Banff National Park, the oldest one in Canada; it

will get a close-up of nature on this day trip to
Banff and Yoho National Parks. Following the Bow River
you drive from Banff to Lake Louise. After the
photo-op at the Chateau Lake Louise, you enter Yoho
National Park and head for Takakkaw Falls (254 m) and
Emerald Lake. On your way back to Banff, make a stop
at Johnston Canyon. A well-built trail will lead you
through the canyon and to magnificent views. Don’t
forget your camera! You may spot some wildlife even.
From the Johnston Canyon it is only a 20-minute drive
back to Banff. |

Banff, you follow the Bow River to Lake Louise. Then
you take the Columbia Icefields Parkway – nicknamed
dream road of the Rocky Mountains – to Jasper. The
absolute highlight of this stretch of road is the
Columbia Icefield. A trail takes you to the tongue of
the Athabasca glacier. You’ll arrive in Jasper late
afternoon. |

just relax and rest up in your Jasper hotel. |

excursion to the Maligne valley, southeast of Jasper,
will offer you a splendid look at this remote mountain
region. A winding road takes you from Jasper to
Maligne Lake, which is the biggest natural lake in the
Canadian Rocky Mountains. The wonderful view on the
over 3,000 m high mountains can best be enjoyed during
a walk along the lake. On the way back to Jasper, make
a stop at Maligne Canyon. This impressive canyon is
home to a unique waterfall and many fossils. |
